Lahem Meshwi (meat and onion skewers)
INGREDIENTS
1kg of eye fillet/scotchfillet/boneless lamb (cut into 3/4cm cubes)
½ tsp ground black pepper
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp allspice
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
6 pickling white onions (peeled) (or one large onion cut into cubes)
¼ cup olive oil
TO SERVE
1 pack Kohkoz Pitas
1 pottle of Kohkoz Traditional Hummus
METHOD
Preheat your BBQ to medium high
Place all the ingredients into a mixing bowl
Assemble skewers. Each skewer should have approx. 5-7 pieces of meat and a couple of onion cubes.
Lay the skewers on the BBQ, turning them periodically so that they grill evenly.
This should take a total of 8 to 10 minutes; 4 to 5 minutes per side. Make sure not to over grill your meat, or it will lose its natural juices.
Once cooked, remove the skewers off the BBQ and serve hot with warm pitas and hummus
This can also be made with chicken and served with Kohkoz Toum instead of hummus
